Many of you may really love watching this kind of cyst excision, but actually I don’t really enjoy this particular kind. I much prefer the clean cyst excisions, when I remove the cyst intact and can squeeze out the nice, white, clean contents out later if I wish. The reason I don’t really like these […]
This is a cyst excision on the upper back, on a cyst that has been previously inflamed and had a small scar visible on an edge of the initial bump. This patient is darker complected, which is by the macerated keratin within the sac of this cyst is dark grey in color. The contents of […]
Here I use a punch biopsy instrument, 3mm diameter, to “punch” a hole into the top of a superficial epidermoid cyst, so that I can squeeze out most of its contents and remove the entire epidermoid sac. Small closure with sutures, and scar should not be noticeable, hidden in a neck crease. source
For medical education- NSFE. So I removed this cyst from that back of this man’s neck today. I numbed the area up with lidocaine before doing this procedure. I also used a marker to mark the outside border of the cyst, because when the numbing medication can distort/swell the area, making it more difficult to […]
It’s Throwback Thursday, and I’ll be featuring a past patient every now and then on Thursdays! I’ll include updates for you on the patient’s condition and may also include bonus footage! This patient is the same person with the stubborn blackhead/keratin plug extractions on the nose, just recently posted. THIS is the reason that she came to see me in the first place. She has had a mole on her chin, that was treated with a laser many years ago. She doesn’t like the appearance of […]
For medical education- NSFE. Those of you who like blackhead extractions may also like this procedure, because there is a feeling of completeness and accomplishment after doing sclerotherapy (sclero for short), which is the treatment of spider veins. Sclero is the gold standard, the best treatment for spider veins esp on the lower extremities. Blood […]
Simple blackheads extractions on the face. I often use a little numbing (lidocaine plus bicarbonate and epinephrine) to anesthetize the area a little before extractions because this is much more comfortable for the patient. Also many of you notice that as I numb the skin, I shake my left hand, and this is on purpose. […]
