BAD BREATH AND HOW TO GET RID OF IT?? #TMITUESDAYS
Today I’m going to tell you all about bad breath and 6 quick ways you can get rid of it.
What causes bad breath in the first place?
Stuff like eating a lot of strong smelling foods like garlic and onion give you bad breath too because the smell gets absorbed into your blood stream and everytime you breathe out the smell is coming out of you, unfortunately you have to wait it out for the smell to get out of your system and teethbrushing, gum chewing, and mints only mask the garlic smell temporarily.
Most cases of bad breath are caused by bacteria growth sitting on your tongue. Having a dry mouth usually causes the bacteria because your saliva isn’t there to break down any particles in your mouth and keeps things clean. When your mouth is dry, all those dead cells stay on your tongue and bacteria grows and breaks them down which leads to the release of sulfur and it smells putrid.
Eating mints and chewing gum may not be able to get rid of the smell if it’s coming from bacteria. It will just cover it up.
Getting rid of the bacteria that’s causing your bad breath isn’t that hard and there here are 5 steps you can take to eliminate bad breath.
1. Grab a tooth brush and brush your tongue and roof of your mouth. Try scraping the bacteria off the back of your tongue since that’s where most of the bacteria lives.
2. If you don’t already, you should floss daily. Food gets stuck in between your teeth and gums too and toothbrushes can’t always reach it so you should definitely floss and it’ll help keep your breath from smelling bad.
3. Drink more green tea and water. Drinking green tea or water will rehydrate you since the cause of bad breath is from dry mouth. Green tea can also eliminate bad breath from bacteria because it’s shown to reduce the level of the sulfur compounds In your mouth.
4. Use a mouth wash that doesn’t contain alcohol and look for one that contains zinc. Zinc ions will bind with sulfur and turn it into a type of salt, which doesn’t release that nasty smell. Try finding a mouthwash that doesn’t have alcohol since alcohol will dry out your mouth and worsen bad breath.
5. If you notice a white film on your tongue a lot then a toothbrush isn’t enough and then you might want to invest in a tongue scraper or tongue cleaner. You place it toward the back of your tongue as much as you can and just scrape forward and all that nasty bacteria, dead cells, and other gunk will get scrapped off, leaving you with a cleaner mouth and fresher breath.
If you follow those steps, you are bound to always have fresh breath and everyone close to you will also appreciate it.
Good oral hygiene will also have a positive effect on your overall health too because constantly breathing in the bacteria sitting on your tongue can cause respiratory problems.
