Warning, some graphic content: Standard Cyst excision on the back For medical education- NSFE.

For medical education- NSFE. Cyst excision on the back today. This is a common epidermoid cyst, what many people call a “sebaceous cyst”. Many people with oily completions, and a history of acne are prone to them, but they are fairly common and can occur in anyone. It’s not medically necessary to remove these bumps but they will not go away without removing the entire cyst including the cyst sac and its contents. Surgical excision like this is the best way to make sure this cyst doesn’t reoccur.
This is a cyst on the back which has been inflamed and probably infected a few times in the past. Due to history of previous infection, it’s not surprising there is fibrous tissue /scarring in the area that makes the tissue difficult to remove. As you can see, this cyst was not that simple to remove, but care was needed to make sure that all the cyst sac and contents were taken out, so that it will not reoccur.
