Treating Brown Spots on the Cheeks with a Laser. WARNING strobe-like laser light
This is a patient who has dermatosis papulosa nigra, a condition common in darker completed people. These are similar to seborrheic keratoses, and we like to call them “wisdom spots” because they are not harmful, but many of us just get more of them the “wiser” they get.
Here, I use a KTP 532 nm laser, called the Iridium laser, to “pop” these bumps off her cheeks. I say “pop” because when we treat these spots, a “popping” sound can be heard when I’ve essentially “imploded” the brown spot on the face. It is a little uncomfortable, but we apply numbing cream before treatment, and it is worth it, because it can do a pretty good job at clearing these brown spots.
At the end of the video you can see another patient I treated recently with similar spots on her neck.. you can see her one month later, with the spots completely gone.
Treatment probably starts at $150, but can be as high as $700 depending on the number of bumps that we need to treat.
