Rhinophyma Repair, Dedicated to MOM 💞

Rhinophyma is a subtype of rosacea (but a minority of people with rosacea develop this condition). It is characterized by a red, swollen, distorted, bumpy, bulbous nose. There is increased oil production in the area, and the follicles/ pores are dilated/patulous. It occurs more commonly in men. It is incorrect that rhinophyma is due to excess drinking of alcoholic beverages. While alcohol can certainly exacerbate the condition, so can other trigger factors, such as sun exposure, stress, exercise, spicy foods, caffeine to name a few. Rhinophyma is not a life threatening condition but is certainly a cosmetic concern. Here, you see me using a loop electrocautery device to reshape this gentleman’s nose. Thank you to the patient for allowing me to show how I treat his condition, and thank you for watching!!
