Results after Rhinophyma Treatment, Mr Gold

Oops! I meant to publish this tomorrow, but I guess I’ll let it go since this is a continuation of the video I published earlier today!

I’ll put up the thumbnail Monday, and if you need more information about this procedure please see the descriptions from the previous videos!

Thank you for watching!

Part 2, Treatment of his Rhinphyma:

This is “Mr Gold” who has a medical condition called rhinophyma which causes thickening or the skin on his nose.

Many people are asking about whether he was in pain after treatment and I would describe the discomfort similar to a rug burn? No pain medication is needed. It’s important to keep the area moist with antibiotic ointment as it heals which can take a couple weeks. I will try to post how he looks 3 weeks after this treatment TOMORROW. Also, yes I was really sick! I got the flu and it knocked me out!

Rhinophyma, is a component of rosacea (a pretty common condition especially among people of Celtic descent), but it is more commonly seen in men vs women, and predominantly affects the nose, causing thickening of the skin of the nose, and dilated, patulous pores. The thickening of the skin of the nose is due to a excess production of sebaceous glands (oil glands). While by no means is this a life-threatening condition, it can be embarrassing to those who have it.

Rosacea and rhinophyma occurs most commonly in people of Celtic descent, with light hair and light eyes and this type of light skin complexion is actually beneficial in terms of healing when treating rhinophyma with electrosurgery as you see me do here. Essentially I’m using an electric current to deliver heat to “cut” through skin tissue while cauterizing blood vessels at the same time. I use a wire loop, circular cautery device to allow me to re-sculpt the nostril as close to what I believe it looks like before the area thickened due to this condition.

I will post an update on my YouTube channel so you can see how he looks now, but if you can’t wait, visit my Instagram @drpimplepopper or @drsandralee to see how wonderful he looks now. I’m ecstatic about the results but most importantly so is he!

One important thing to know: rosacea and rhinophyma are not caused be alcoholism.. rosacea can be exacerbated by many factors, most commonly spicy foods, sunlight, exercise, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, but these do not cause the condition of rosacea and rhinophyma.
