Flat warts, a venous lake, a blackhead, and a biopsy. For medical education- NSFE.

For medical education- NSFE. I. Flat warts, aka verruca plana, are caused by a virus. They can be spread on the skin in a linear direction due to “Koebnerization”. In other words, they can be spread by shaving the legs or scratching the skin-this minor trauma to the skin can drag the virus from one wart across the skin and cause more warts to erupt in that area. As you can see she has flat warts that have appeared in a line due to this phenomenon. Warts are very difficult to treat successfully, but there are many treatment options.
2. A venous lake most commonly occurs on the lower lip and the top of the ears. Extensive sun exposure causes weakening of the walls of a vein, causing it to dilate and create a “lake” of venous blood, which is why it appears blue. A great treatment is the vbeam laser. A couple treatments may be necessary.
3. Blackhead on the abdomen for you popaholics
4. I was unsure what this was when i biopsied it, but pathology confirmed that it was a superficial epidermoid cyst.
