Extracting Solar Comedones

One of my lovely patients whom I haven’t seen in years. Actually just accompanied his wife today, but I couldn’t help but notice he had a skin cancer that I biopsied on this day, and then, of course, I noticed how many solar comedones he has. These are also known as Favre Racouchot when they occur around the eyes. As you can probably see, I didn’t work on all of them, because he really wasn’t even my patient today! I will see him again soon though, and I’ll try to work on the rest then.

As you know, these are not life threatening, but solar comedones are due to chronic excessive sun exposure, and this causes whiteheads and blackheads to appear around the eyes, especially laterally. They are extracted with a comedone extractor.

Thank you so much for watching!!
