DIY HOLIDAY DECORATIONS FROM THE DOLLAR STORE!!! (under $1)

Moving on to all things Christmas! Have you started decorating yet? Or do you like to wait until after Thanksgiving?

First is the Falling Leaf garland. This is perfect if you want to bring some fall cozy-ness to your bedroom/living room.

To start you’ll need
– Artificial leaves
– Glue
– Glitter!
– a Brush

So it is easiest to make one leaf at a time. Coat your leaf with glue and then dust with glitter. Let dry.
Repeat this step using different colors of glitter.
For this next part, you will need some ribbon. After the leaves are dry, cut a length of ribbon and tape the middle to the back of the leaf. For each leaf, use a different length of string.
So I cut a long piece of ribbon for the main part of the garland. To make things easier I taped each end to the table.
Use the two ends from each leave to tie a knot around a part of the long piece of ribbon taped to the table.
Added tip: if you have some white string lights you can interlace this garland with the lights for a festive effect.
Next, is glitter mason jar candles. If you are a subscriber then you’ve already seen my DIY Mason Jar tutorial. This is another version of that tutorial but this time with glitter!

So all you will need for this is:
– Mason Jars
– Glue
– Brush
– Glitter!
o Because its Fall I’m using some Gold, Silver, and Copper glitter
I’m going for a gradient effect so I will start off coating the bottom of the inside of the jar with glue. As I make my way towards the opening, I put a bit less glue than the bottom.
After the inside is coated I’ll add the glitter in. shake it gently and roll it around to make sure the glitter gets to all of the glued areas.
Let dry, add a tea light and enjoy! I love how the candlelight looks through the glitter and glass. These are really inexpensive and super chic!

Next is a bowl made of autumn leaves.

You will need:

– Mod Podge glue,
– Artificial leaves (like the ones used in the garland)
– Brush,
– Balloon

Inflate your balloon. To keep it in place, put the balloon in a pot/mixing box. I taped mine to a paper plate.
Take the leaves and remove all of the plastic stems if they have them. This will help you mold the leaves. Apply a thin layer of glue to the top of the balloon, Start in the middle and move outward.
Begin to layer your leaves. Smooth out the leaf with the brush, adding small amounts of glue to the leaves. Make sure to add a few extra leaves to the top so that there will be extra support on the bottom of the bowl.
When everything is completely dry, cut the balloon at the opposite end. It will slowly deflate. Don’t worry if the bowl bends inwards. Once you remove the balloon it will reshape.
You can use this bowl for candy, candles, a place to put your keys, or anything else.

This next one is great for an easy gift Idea. You can customize the candle however you want.
You will need:
a plain wax candle
wax paper
– tissue paper
– one piece of regular paper
– a hair dryer

Now tape the tissue paper on top of the computer paper. You can either draw directly onto the tissue paper, or you can carefully feed this into a printer and print out a design.

Gently place the tissue paper on the candle. Roll the wax paper over the candle. You can then cut off any excess paper. Use the hairdryer to slowly melt the wax paper to the candle.
The great thing about this project is you can literally make it for any occasion!
The last décor project is Bunting flags. Like the candles, you can customize it for any occasion and it instantly transforms any space.

What you will need:

– Twine or Ribbon
– Tape
– Different patterned paper
– Paint/ Sharpie

First, pick out the paper you want and cut each page into equal-sized triangles. You’ll want them a bit longer than they are wide.
After you cut these out the place the triangles in the order you want. Then paint/write your message. You can make it for Thanksgiving or For the holidays. Tape each flag to the ribbon and you are done!
Now you are officially decked out in your new décor!
