Dermatology: Removing a growth from the inguinal area. For medical education- NSFE.

For medical education- NSFE. This patient had a fleshy, grape-sized growth right in the crease of her inner thigh (this is called the inguinal area). Since it is sessile, almost pedunculated (terms we use to describe its shape) it can easily be removed by numbing the base and using sharp serrated scissors, much like I would remove a skin tag. This is probably a benign growth. I suspect it is a neurofibroma, a nevus lipomatosus superficialis, or a big acrochordon (skin tag). We will find out when we get the tissue back toI look at the tissue under the microscope in a week or so… I’ll post a pic of the microscopic pathology on my instagram and twitter when I get it! Have a great weekend!
