ALOE VERA FOR ACNE AND ACNE SCARS: DML STYLE

I know you’ve heard all about my acne story! I am a huge proponent of going behind the ingredients of skincare! Sure you can buy “magic in a bottle” for $200+, but what is in the bottle? How does it actually help your skin?

A lot of you have probably heard about aloe vera, and have seen it added as an ingredient in a lot of moisturizers, or sunscreens.

Aloe vera comes from the Aloe plant and It comes in the form of either a gel, or latex. The gel form is what people apply on their skin for its healing benefits. Aloe Gel comes from the inside of an aloe vera plant leaf and it looks like a clear jelly. The latex part comes from just under the plant’s leaf and it looks yellowish. I’m going to focus on the gel because that’s the part that’s beneficial for skin.
So how does aloe help skin? Aloe contains over 75 active compounds with healing properties.

Some of the compounds increase blood circulation to the area aloe is applied to, which brings more nutrients to the wounded area, and aloe kills bacteria and prevents cell death of healthy tissue. One of the beneficial healing compounds is called Saponin which has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties which would help reduce redness and the chance of scars forming on your skin.

Acne is caused by overproduction of sebum, and the sebum getting thick and clogging your pore. The clogged pore creates an environment for bacteria to grow and then your skin gets inflamed and infected with a new pimple.

The Saponin in aloe is an astringent, and it cleans and disinfects. Aloe has also been shown to heal some wounds up to 7 days quicker than if you put nothing on the wound. Pretty amazing right? Here are 6 other amazing uses for aloe vera:
Aloe vera gel can be used to relieve pain and heal skin after a burn, bug bite, or contact with poison ivy.

You can use aloe as a make-up remover, just add aloe gel to a cotton pad and wipe your eye makeup away.

Use aloe as a brow gel to hold those brows in place. Just dip a mascara wand in the gel and brush it through your brows. You can even add some powdered eye shadow mixed into the gel if you want to darken your brows.

Aloe vera can be used to replace your everyday moisturizer.

You can use aloe to heal scarring from acne. A scar forms because your skin cells around the infected area get damaged, and new collagen is created to repair it, but your body doesn’t ever do quite as good a job at repairing skin to look like the original. Aloe has properties that promote collagen growth, and new skin cell regeneration. Aloe will also form a protective layer over your skin allowing your skin to focus on new collagen regeneration and healing. Apply twice a day for as long as you need, and to get faster and better results, apply aloe after using a Banisher on the affected area.

Brush your teeth with aloe added into your toothpaste to strengthen your gums, and keep your teeth strong and healthy.

Aloe is versatile and with so many different uses and benefits from this plant, no wonder it is also known as the “miracle plant” You can buy an aloe vera plant and cut the leaves and squeeze out the gel in the center whenever you want to use it.
