Blackheads on the back

This patient of mine came in for a total body skin check. During this examination, I noticed numerous blackheads on the back. Blackheads are open comedones, follicles/pores that have dilated and are filled with keratin/ skin cells. They can be extracted using a comedone extractor as you see here, but often when they are larger and older, a nick in the skin surface is made to extract them more easily. A local anesthetic is placed around the area of larger blackheads and whiteheads to make the procedure painless and completely comfortable.

He was happy to get these blackheads removed, and was kind enough to let us film the procedure.

Thank you so much for watching!!
